David Hovan is a multidisciplinary artist with a career that spans over four decades.  Initially, David worked in professional theatre as an actor; first, in the Middle East, subsequently the United States and finally, in Canada where he performed in mainstream professional theatres across the country. From theatre, he refocused his efforts to film and television performance. Inspired to create his own work, David has since distinguished himself with many awards as an independent filmmaker in experimental cinema and video arts.

In the midst of his artistic life, David took a break to provide for his family including working as a senior executive at Brightlight Pictures in Vancouver, BC. Once again fully immersed in the creative, David has turned his attention to the visual arts. His abstract works are now held in private collections in Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Berkeley and Mexico City.

David holds a Master of Fine Arts from the Meadows School of the Arts at SMU Dallas, Texas and has studied at Emily Carr University in Vancouver, British Columbia.
